By renewing Tosa's traditional papermaking techniques from a chemical perspective, Hirose created an advanced "wetlaid papermaking technology." That was the start of a new era of high-functionality paper. With software assets accumulated from our long-standing polymer chemistry research and resultant formation discoveries, Hirose succeeded in developing the world's first novel 100% synthetic fiber paper "vinylon." Today, raw materials thereof also widely range from natural fibers to various synthetic fibers, glass fibers and metal fibers. Thus we continue to develop diverse products for various purposes and functions. Proven quality and advanced functionality of our products have been utilized in various chemical, industrial and medical fields, as well as the livingware fields.

Papillon®Raw Material: Vinylon

100% vinylon fiber. 100% synthetic fiber paper with vinylon's near-insoluble fiber firmly melt-adhered by the readily-soluble fiber binder (PVA)--this is Japan's first wetlaid nonwoven. The paper is very strong and the strength value is even higher than that of traditional hand-made mulberry paper, which is said to be the strongest paper of all natural fabric paper. It also has excellent properties of folding endurance, abrasion resistance, alkali resistance, oil resistance and thermal resistance. This product solidified the position of the wetlaid nonwoven in the market.

Applications: Battery separators, plywood reinforcement, and civil engineering materials

TH Raw Material: Polyester

No-binder wetlaid nonwoven with 100% polyester fiber. There are 3 types of TH: a high-density type with excellent thermal dimensional stability, a mid-density type with excellent acid resistance and ultra-density type with excellent resin impregnation properties. Particularly, the thermal dimensional stability of the high-density type is so superior that the material maintains stable dimensions up to 200℃, which has made the material popular in a wide range of applications.

Applications: Foundation cloth for insulation tape, oil/air filters, and digital thermal base paper, etc.

HOP Raw Material: Polyolefin

Unique wetlaid nonwoven made of 100% polyolefin fiber. There are 2 types of HOP: double-layered 2P type suited for low-temperature seals and single-layered H type. The heat-sealing temperature is about 110℃ and about 140℃, respectively. Only heat is used for fiber adhesion; no chemicals are used. Therefore, this material may also be adapted to food and medical applications.

Applications: Permeable filters, medical water-proof sheets and base materials for lamination

EP Raw Material: Polyester and Polypropylene

100% synthetic fiber base paper for heat-sealing of the "dual-layered structure" of polyester fiber and polypropylene fiber. As the fiber is bound at temperatures of about 200℃, the base paper strength in a dry state barely deteriorates in water, hot water or boiled water. It is also harmless, plain and non-toxic because, unlike conventional heat-sealing base paper, no PVA and paper strength additives are used; thus it never impairs original food flavors.

Applications: Coffee bags (coffee filters), broth bags, herbal tea bags and bath agent bags

FK Raw Material: Acrylic Resin

FK is a nonwoven, film or paper with a foamed coating of special acrylic resin. As each resin foam serves as a sucker, an FK sheet curiously easily sticks to and peels off from a plain-surface object such as glass, resin or aluminum plate. Unlike adhesive paper with adhesive agents, resin residue is hardly left off after it is peeled off. However, if any residue is left off, it can easily be removed by wiping it off with a wet cloth.

Applications: Grip tape, base materials for teaching materials, base materials for window displays, boards (whiteboards/contact boards, etc.), curing mats in construction sites, and protective sheets for transportation

PPS Product Name: PPS Paper (PPS wetlaid nonwoven) Raw Material: PPS (Toray's Torcon®)

PPS Paper is high-performance, lightweight, and precision paper with thermal/chemical resistance and electrical insulation properties. Widths of up to 120cm is available.

Features of PPS Paper
1. Excellent thermal resistance: It exhibits outstanding long-term thermal resistance for continuous operations at up to 190℃. It also has excellent steaming resistance (hydrolysis resistance).
2. Excellent chemical resistance: It exhibits high chemical resistance comparable to that of fluorine resin; it tolerates alkaline, organic solvents and most acids (there are exceptions such as concentrated nitric acid) at temperature below 200℃.
3. Excellent electric characteristics: It always exhibits stable electric characteristics at high temperatures, humidity and frequencies.
4. Excellent flame retardance: It has high flame-proof and self-extinguishing properties.

Applications: Electric insulating materials, printed-wiring board materials, and thermal- and chemical-resistant filtering materials, etc.
